Forks Washington on the Olympic Peninsula

Film Forks in Forks?

Friday, 17 April 2009 Written by Erik & Cari

Washington State Governor Chris Gregoire has signed into law a bill designed to make our state more competitive in the movie production industry.Among other things, the new law will significantly increase the amount of funding assistance available, which should help entice production companies to film here in Washington State.Further background about the new law can be found in this April 15, 2009, post from the Seattle Fine Arts Examiner.

The bill appears to have been aimed, in part, at the producers of Twilight.According to an April 7, 2009, article in the Seattle PI, Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle, who spoke in favor of the bill, was “disturbed that the Twilight sequel is supposedly going to film in British Columbia to take advantage of the better deals producers can get there.”

The new law is great news for Forks!!Our doors are wide-open to all filmmakers, including our friends at Summit Entertainment. Actually, there’s nothing we’d like better than to have more celebrities sneaking around town . . . . ;-) But, seriously, Forks has already reached cult status with Twilight fans—what better location could there be to film future Twilight-saga based movies?

I just finished reading all four books in a week. It is disappointing that they are not filming in Forks! It would make the movie so much better! Plus it would allow for the locals to be more involved.

But the first movie wasn't filmed in Forks either... Thought I think that the movie SHOULD definitely be filmed there so that the whole world can know how truly beautiful it is.

Forks is one of the main characters of the book. I can't truly believe they are going to leave this magical place out of the second movie just to save a few bucks. I have some wonderful sea stack/seascape pictures - the kind sold by mass retailers. You know the kind of thing - gorgeous sepia and black and white images of rugged coastlines. I wonder how many people know that these pictures they love are often of the Olympic coastline? Forks and the area it is in has been a part of many people's daily lives for years. I am from the UK and I would love to visit someday. Come on Twilight producers. Stay loyal. Don't let the almighty dollar rob us of the soul of the Twilight Saga.

There is something magical about the Pacific Northwest that can not be duplicated in a studio, or elsewhere in the country. What a tragedy it would be to take the filming elsewhere. The scenery from "Twilight" was exactly what I pictured in my head reading the books. And it would be a great way to help boost the economy in Forks. Film in Forks!!

The movie Twilight being filmed in Forks will add realism to the movie. The actors will be able to live the lifestyle of Forks instead of playing a part.

I really hope they decide to film SOMETHING from Twilight in the town it's actually based in. Forks and La Push are such beautiful towns!
