The current weather predictions call for sunny weather during the day and “a moonlight sky” at night, which sounds about as good as it gets in Forks in mid-September. We’ll keep our fingers crossed!!
All kinds of interesting activities are planned, including Mayor Reed’s High Noon proclamation officially declaring September 13, 2008, Stephenie Meyer Day (if you haven’t met our Mayor, Nedra Reed, she is an impressive community leader and Twilight supporter–you should introduce yourself!). We’re particularly excited about the Wolf Dance and the Bon Fire with Native storytelling at LaPush. This is a rare opportunity to participate in a diverse cultural event that will be fun for all. Don’t miss it!!
In addition to the planned activities, there will be lots of time to shop for souvenirs in Forks, visit the Chamber’s Visitor Information Center (we’re south of town on Highway 101– “Bella’s” truck is usually parked out front) and to explore the area a bit. Popular side trips include the Hoh Rain Forest, LaPush and the ocean, hiking to Second Beach (a little more of a challenge than First Beach, but worth it) and Cape Flattery, the most Northwestern point in the contiguous United States. Check out our 5-day Travel Guide for more ideas.
Thanks to TwilightMOMS for, um, “letting us” borrow their luggage tag image for this post. What a creative bunch those TMs are, eh? ![]()
It’s going to be a big, big weekend in Forks. Drag racing is planned for that weekend as well, just to keep things exciting. You’ll know you’ve reached Forks when you see the “Welcome Race Fans and Vampires” sign at the edge of town . . . .
If you need further information, please contact the Chamber at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 1-800-443-6757 or just stop in and visit us at 1411 South Forks Avenue (Highway 101) when you get to Forks.
