The Great Gas Cap Caper?

Saturday, 17 January 2009 Written by Erik & Cari

It’s a mystery keeping most Forks-area residents up at night–what happened to the gas cap on “Bella’s” truck? Yes, we’re talking about the vintage red truck (and popular local photo-op) that’s usually parked at the Forks Chamber of Commerce’s Visitor Center–located just south of Downtown Forks on Forks Avenue (Highway 101). Thanks to Peninsula Daily News reporter Paige Dickerson for her recent news story probing into this community crisis! Anyone with clues or other information about the whereabouts of the missing cap should contact the Chamber immediately at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. I have seen two different signs for the hospital and two different signs for Bella's house online. I am making a trek to forks and I want to be able to see THE signs are they getting stolen also or whats happening. Why can't people just leave things alone! This upsets me when people ruin things for others.

Maggie--this is one-time event, as far as we know. And, to be honest, we really don't know if it was just some kind of prank or what happened . . .

I am most upset someone would steal from the Chamber and tarnish the Twihards/Twilighters reputations. I was there for the DVD release and will be there again real soon!! Thank you Forks for being so gracious to all the tourists taking over your town.

That is not my truck...nice try! Hey--wait a minute--you're not Bella Swan! We received a nice comment the other day from the "real" Bella Swan, who says she lives in North Phoenix. She sounded pretty darn sincere about it, so I'm thinking she's an actual "birth certificated" Bella Swan. ;-) ~Cari

How sad that someone has to give Twilight fans a bad rep by stealing from the Chamber. It speaks well of your town that you respond graciously to the theft.

I think the type of truck looks right but i imagine it a faded red colour. Even tho i don't live in the US i will do what i can to help. Good point, Abii, the color is actually a little too bright, at least compared to the truck Stephenie Meyer has on her site. We figure it will fade fast in the rain . . . ~Cari
