Forks Washington on the Olympic Peninsula

Twilight Tourism Talk

Tuesday, 02 June 2009 Written by Erik & Cari

Twilight tourism is definitely heating up here in Forks and the West End! This Peninsula Daily News video taken at yesterdays Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce meeting features several speakers, including our own Forks Chamber of Commerce Director, Marcia Bingham. The focus of the meeting was Twilight and the related tourism boost it has provided. Marcia presents interesting statistics and humorous anecdotes from her perspective on the front lines of the “Twilight Zone.” We all continue to be absolutely delighted to see the droves of happy tourists visiting our area!

I have never even been to Port Angeles or Forks but i have studied it so much now that my heart is set on moving down there. I am also a Twilight fan, but my grandfather was a logger there for quite some time back in the day i was told. So, i already feel i have some kind of connection. Especially now that i am a Twilight fanatic. My three beautiful children and i cannot wait to see you all.

We're coming up in September (actually arriving by coincidence on Bella's B-day) as part of a PacNW road trip. I'm excited to come see all the Twilight stuff, but also SO excited to come see it for the natural beauties, fishing, hiking, etc. We've had the area recommended by a couple of very non-twilight related parties. See ya soon!

I went to Forks in April of this year. The people there are so friendly, even thou they did not film any of "Twilight"there my daughter still enjoyed the various spots from the book.La Push is just so beautiful I think that visitors should be thankful you have open up your hearts to us.I too can't wait to bring friends there for a visit to such a great spot in Washington.I just moved here to Vancouver,Wa. this past March and I am so happy to be out of California!!Thanks again people of Forks!!

I can't wait to visit Forks next July. We're going to stay in a hostel and go hiking and hopefully, against my boyfriend's will, visit the various sites where Twilight was filmed. I can't wait! This place looks like a definite haven for me. -Asheville, NC

I'm hoping to see the town of Forks soon. I wonder however, if the people of Forks are happy about all the "visitors" to the area. I would love to speak with one of them that wasn't making any money from all the new tourist trade. Dawn--I'm a volunteer with the Chamber and make no money whatsoever from tourism. The majority opinion here in Forks is that we have truly been blessed with something that's helping our community. When the first book came out, there were a few people who didn't really want Forks to be associated with vampires, etc., but at this point, I think virtually everyone in town is enjoying being the center of attention and being part of something this successful. It makes us especially proud to talk to Twilight fans who come to see the Twilight sights, but plan to return to spend more time seeing the things that brought many of us here--things like the incredibly beautiful Olympic National Park, the awesome wilderness ocean beaches, the wild rivers, the unspoiled, sprawling forests, etc. The main reason I'm responding is that I want Twilighters to know they are sincerely welcome here--in fact, Forks, LaPush and the entire West End welcome ALL visitors, including Twilight fans!! ~Cari

I have yet to visit the town of Forks, but once my sister has finished with the novels, we are planning a trip there. I've lived in Washington nearly all my life (11 months in Phoenix) so I can truly say we are blessed with such beauty.
