Forks is gearing up for the March 20th DVD release of New Moon. This article by Paige Dickerson, from today's Peninsula Daily News, highlights some of the activities being planned in Forks around this BIG event. We're especially looking forward to seeing all the locals appearing in the Twilight in Forks documentary, which is supposed to be part of the Special Edition New Moon DVD. Dazzled by Twilight (11 N. Forks Ave.) is ramping up the planning efforts with the Volturi Vampire Ball set for 8:00 pm, Friday, March 19th, at the Twilight Lounge (FKA the Vagabond Restaurant) right in Downtown Forks. There will be no entrance fee for this fun-sounding event! Twilight Central/Leppell's Flowers & Gifts (130 S. Spartan Ave.) is also planning some special events during the day on March 19th and running right up to the midnight release of the DVD. Other events and activities are in the works, so stay tuned, and make plans NOW to be in Forks March 19-21 to be part of the action!
The "Home of the Swans" sign at Forks' Swan House has been taken! Yes, shocking, but true. We're assuming local law enforcement is all over this apparent "TwiCrime," but if you have the sign--for whatever reason--just leave it at the Forks Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center (1411 S. Forks Ave.) and we'll get it back to the owners. If anyone knows who has the sign, or has information about what happened to it, please contact the Forks Police Department (360-374-2223) and they'll take it from there. Thanks! You can see what you missed at the Twilight convention in Seattle this weekend by checking out these photos, taken by Thom Weinstein, from today's Seattle P-I. The event appears to have been a success, based on these shots. We'd love to hear from someone who was able to attend!
Looks like just about everyone in Forks showed up for the casting call for the planned Forks reality TV show. (We're up in Canada, so we missed all of the action!) Check out the coverage at the Forks Forum site and in today's Peninsula Daily News. We're assuming they're not talking about the "real" Forks that we know, so we're curious what, exactly, is planned. Anyone have suggestions for Zig Gauthier, the Santa Monica, California, based television producer behind the project?
Twilight is coming to Showtime next month! And just to keep it real, they stopped by Forks last week to shoot some special local footage to go along with the film when it opens January 23rd at 8:00 pm. This photo shows Forks Chamber Director Marcia Bingham being interviewed by the Showtime crew at our Visitor Center. Sorry about the rain, guys--hope your visit was okay otherwise!
Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment have announced a series of Twilight conventions, including one in Seattle on January 15-17, 2010; one in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on May 14-16, 2010; and one in Portland, Oregon on October 1-3, 2010. The Twicons will feature special guests, including, in Seattle, for example, Peter Facinelli, Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Bronson Pelletier, Kiowa Gordon, Daniel Cudmore and Charlie Bewley, along with exclusive footage screenings, panel discussions, Twilight themed parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions, auctions, autographing, merchandising, and photo opportunities. Sounds pretty exciting!
Check out the Forks Forum's New Moon Magazine.
The focus is on Forks and LaPush celebrating the release of the big movie. Lots of local information and photos.
Nice job, Chris and crew!
Those of you who have visited Forks know we actually do have a movie theater. It's just not a functioning movie theater. So, that means we're considering--gasp--leaving Forks for the New Moon movie release next week. Luckily, we have several great theater options in our area!
Port Angeles is showing New Moon Thursday, November 19, 2009, just after midnight. It's playing downtown at the Lincoln Theater. Twilight will play before it at 9:00 p.m. No advance tickets. This is, of course, the famous theater where Bella and her friends would have gone for a movie on excursions outside of Forks.
Port Townsend's New Moon opening happens at the Rose Theater at the same time on Thursday evening. They have advance tickets available, beginning November 16th, at their box office and online. The Rose is one of our favorite theaters and is always worth a visit.
Victoria, BC, has the movie opening on Thursday at 10:00 p.m. at several theaters including the Capital 6 Victoria Cinemas; Empire University 4; Silver City Victoria and the Caprice Showcase Theater.
It's almost here!!
Wow! You’d expect to find huge t-shirt factories lining the streets out here in the West End of Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula, given the number of Forks and LaPush t-shirts available online. We’re not really sure who’s making these shirts, but we suspect most aren’t actually from around here.
We appreciate all of the attention–and the more the merrier–but there are locally produced Forks, LaPush and Twilight-related products available, including the Forks Chamber of Commerce’s own line of shirts and stickers. Your purchases help support community-minded Chamber activities, including operating this web site and our web cams, staffing our Visitor Information Center in Forks and funding scholarships for graduates of Forks High School and Quileute Tribal School.
But, just for fun, here’s a small sampling of some of the images available on t-shirts and other products out there:

Special thanks to Tinsel Korey (who plays Emily Young in New Moon) for recently visiting our area. The photos show Tinsel at the “Treaty Line” between Forks and LaPush and with Chris Morganroth III. Hope you enjoyed your time here!
There are a couple of new books out right now focusing on Twilight and Forks that you really need to check out! Both are available at our Forks Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center in Forks as well as at our online store. What a perfect gift for your favorite Twihard (or for yourself, for that matter . . .)
Hey, Forks is in MTV News!! Thanks to MTV and Larry Carroll for covering last week’s Summer School in Forks: a Twilight Symposium. And who can resist visiting Forks, LaPush and the West End after seeing this impressive “The Home of Twilight” video?
What would the Twilight DVD release be without a huge celebration here in Forks? Thanks to Paige Dickerson for her fun article from the front-page of yesterday’s Peninsula Daily News about this event. Thanks also to Forks Chamber member and ace-photographer Lonnie Archibald, for capturing the photo of the visitor from Victoria, BC, Canada, shopping in Forks. The party is sponsored by Forks Chamber member Dazzled by Twilight, located right there on Forks Avenue (Highway 101) in downtown Forks. The party itself sounds like it’s going to be a blast–with everything from Quileute Wolf dancers to tattoo artists involved. It’s happening this Friday, from 10 PM to Midnight at the Rainforest Arts Center at 35 Forks Avenue. For more information, contact Dazzled by Twilight at 360-374-5101.
March 20th Update–here’s the latest from the Peninsula Daily News. Also, check out the great coverage provided by the Forks Forum. It’s shaping up to be a BIG weekend in Forks!!
March 22nd Update–here’s even more from the Peninsula Daily News with their latest article, 600 ‘Twilight’ Fans Hit Forks to Celebrate Movie Where Story is Set.

This large sign–prominently located midway between Forks and LaPush–really caught our attention! Even more disturbing were the cars turning around and heading back toward Forks . . .
Seriously, if you’re in the area, be sure to check out Forks Chamber member Three Rivers Resort restaurant’s “Twilight Menu.” Delicious!
MIKE & MARCIA TWILIGHT ACTION FIGURES
This is probably the most incredible thing we’ve ever seen. Seriously!! Yes, it’s our own Marcia Bingham, Chamber Director, and Mike Gurling, Chamber Visitor Center Manager, depicted as action figures. Right there next to the Alice Cullen action figure! It’s almost too much . . . .
Check out this cool photo gallery of Forks “Twilight-related” scenes from Seattle Post-Intelligencer photographer Brad Vest. You’ve got to love shots of visitors smiling gamely as they’re photographed frolicking in standing water alongside the road. That’s real Forks stuff. (Um, maybe too real . . . ) And what’s up with the shot of Forks Chamber Visitor Center Manager Mike Gurling wearing what appears to be a tuxedo?? Impressive! These photos capture the fun and excitement of visiting Forks and LaPush, especially now, in the “off-season,” when you can take your time and enjoy everything the area has to offer.
Why would anyone visit the Olympic Peninsula in November, a month well-known for dark, stormy weather? To be part of the premier showing of the Twilight movie at the theatre closest to where the series is actually set, of course. Duh!!
Port Angeles is planning a host of fun-sounding activities for November 21st, celebrating the opening of the movie at the Lincoln Theatre (virtually next door to the Bella Italia restaurant) in downtown Port Angeles. All the details are in this post from their blog.
If you’re able to attend, plan to make a weekend of it to check out Forks and the rest of the area while you’re here!
11/17/08 UPDATE – Further information, including movie show times, is in this Peninsula Daily News article from Sunday.
