Forks Washington on the Olympic Peninsula

You'll see why the Victoria Salmon Kings are our favorite hockey team in this video of what is being described by sports writers as "The Goal."  More information can be found in this article from today's Victoria Times Colonist. (For those unfamiliar with our area, Victoria, BC, Canada--about 75 mi/121 km from Forks--is our nearest "real" city.)  Even if you're not a hockey fan, you have to appreciate the truly awesome skating and puck-handling skills shown by Dirk Southern, Scott Howes and Adam Taylor. Go Kings!

January 22nd Update:  Here's more video coverage (from /A\ News) about the goal that's getting well-deserved international attention. It's also worth noting that the original video featured above has now received over a million hits on YouTube!

Well, we thought this video was pretty funny. It's a parody of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' hit song, Empire State of Mind, with all kinds of clever Twilight and Forks rhymes and references thrown in. There's even a cameo from Cousin Itt in there. . . . It's just for fun--check it out! (May not be appropriate for all viewers.)

Wow!  We're speechless after checking out these brand-new MSN Twilight videos (you may have to install MS Silverlight to view the videos).  For the most part, they were shot by the MSN crew while they were here in Forks for Stephenie Meyer Day on Bella's Birthday.

The video featured above, Twilight: Land of Legends, presents an interesting perspective of Forks and LaPush.  Where the heck did they get some of that creepy footage?  Like those girls standing in that dark alley?  Or that huge pile of tires at Gilmore's?  Seriously, these are truly impressive and very well-done--you have to see them all!  Thanks MSN!

ABC's Nightline Interviewing Forks Chamber Director Marcia BinghamWe saw the Nightline crew on a Twilight tour bus a while back and their take on Forks just aired here on the ABC television network.  It's worth checking out--lots of clever puns and comments, generally summing up the situation as a "bloody success."  We hadn't previously heard of Dazzled by Twilight's Annette Bruno-Root referred to as "Queen of the Twihards" either.  Not sure if that's an official title or what . . .   Our favorite part was a reference to Forks as a "must-see" destination.  Even Rob Pattinson says he'd love to visit!  Thanks Nightline!

We saw this video from the Today Show earlier today on KING-5 TV, our local NBC affiliate, and wanted to share it.  It ran on the Today Show and we're assuming it's going to be on the local evening news tonight, but if you don't see it there, you can check it out right here!  Thanks again to Lee Cowan and the Today Show for visiting our neck of the woods and for featuring Forks and the West End.

OK, it almost has a “Blair Witch” feel to it, but this cute-as-a-bug’s-ear video, called Twilight Tour in Forks, recently caught our attention. For one thing, it’s not filmed in some poser town down by Portland–this is real footage from Forks, WA, the “real” home of Twilight.

Thanks to KIRO TV’s (Seattle, WA) Karen O’Leary for this great video on the craziness happening in Forks, WA this weekend. Cool interviews with many local notables, including the Chamber’s own Marcia Bingham and Mike Gurling.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kris Fairbanks’ family. Kris, a Forest Service officer, was killed in the line of duty Saturday, September 20, 2008. This nicely-done KING5 News (Seattle) video piece captures a local perspective on the tragedy.

Hey, Forks is in MTV News!! Thanks to MTV and Larry Carroll for covering last week’s Summer School in Forks: a Twilight Symposium. And who can resist visiting Forks, LaPush and the West End after seeing this impressive “The Home of Twilight” video?

TravelingMamas.com–the popular travel blog specializing in places to go for families with children–recently visited Forks, LaPush and the West End. This post from their blog green-lights our area as a great place for families to visit, especially those with “cranky, out-of-sorts teenager(s).” While we’ve got to say that the young ladies and gentlemen we’ve seen visiting with their families seem anything but “surly,” we’ve got a hunch MudslideMama knows from experience what happens during those loooong car rides when Dad starts discussing things like the anthropological history of the area . . . .
